Oh, right, that's why.
Had to run out to my car today (from the Merc) and the slight uphill was just fine. But the run BACK was slightly down hill and OMGPAIN! My bust, it bounces. Hard. Ow. Definitely NOT taking up running as a hobby. | | Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 | | 2:10 pm |
Oh, my mind is dirty, dirty, dirty
This phrase I just had to type for an SEP (document to support the use of a specific piece of equipment) is perfectly innocent. Mount the assembled rejected capsule container and check the alignment by pushing it up and down the post. But my mind? Oh, my mind went straight to the gutter. EDIT: at this point I have lost track of the number of times I have typed "insert" and "mount". EDIT2: Oh, I give up. Either my head is permanently in the gutter today... or the orignal writer's was. This is another example of what I am dealing with right now. Carefully mount the lower pumping unit to the machine by fitting the vertical pump heads on the vertical piston heads. Fit the appropriate holes on the bottom side of the lower pumping unit on the set screws. Set the unit into place by pushing firmly downward.mount, pump, heads, hole, screws, pushing gah. | | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | | 9:40 pm |
Gaming and sewing. Life is good.
Gave up on Silent Hill, because I couldn't seem to save it, even with the proper memory card. Or, more precisely, it would save, but the save file would be 'damaged' and I couldn't load it. So... fie. I returned it (and Alone in the Dark) and picked up something else. And found precisely what I wanted. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (for the PS2) was exactly what I was looking for. So far the controls are very intuitive, the story has potential and the fighting doesn't require any real skill or quickness on my part. Sure, I have to be pointed in the right direction, but that's easy. It may get more complicated as the game progresses (it almost has to) but at least it didn't drop me in the deep end like some other game I could mention *coughFinalFantasyX2cough* I have put together another corset. If you want to know why, you will have to sweet talk auroraceleste. I am getting surprisingly quick putting them together, so long as I have a pattern already - even if I have to make modifications to the pattern. It just needs bones, grommets and binding and it will be done. Ooops, and a bunch of buttons. Collar next, I think. I refuse to think about whats coming up at work, when I am not AT work. | | Monday, June 29th, 2009 | | 7:04 am |
Fun with Spam continues
Okay, is this "that woman who was shakespeare's flame for long-lost voices that will not come back." a quote that I am just not placing? Because it's almost coherent, and that's rather unusual for this type of spam subject. This other subject, however "what dread hand? and what dread feet?" is definitely a quote (William Blake, Tyger, Tyger), which is what made me think of it. | | Saturday, June 27th, 2009 | | 12:13 pm |
Went out and about to pick up some bias binding and see about maybe a new PS2 game or two. It was dreadfully depressing to see how many shops on Mass St were empty. Names that had been there for as long as I have lived here were gone. :( But I got Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare and a massage. Totally wasn't planning on the massage, but I am much the better for it. Now, to see if I really want to scare the bejeezus out of myself. | | Friday, June 26th, 2009 | | 1:47 pm |
Seriously, this is not driven by anything specific I have seen today
But! If you want to display workmanship on something like a corset, please: If possible, get someone else to take the pictures. Not just because mirrors have issues, but because you have much more trouble getting the right angle. Try to take the picture on the level with the item in question. If it's a corset being worn, then take the picture at about waist height. From normal standing height you get a fore-shortened view of something like a corset. Take pictures from front, side and back. Three quarters view might be artistic, but it messes with an understanding of the shape of the corset. Use good lighting. And remember, above all else, you are trying to show off the corset, not your artistic ability to pose for or frame pictures. If the corset is more obscured than shown, you are defeating your own purpose. Yes, you end up with something straight out of a textbook... but isn't that the point? | | Monday, June 22nd, 2009 | | 9:07 am |
More fun with the spam filter
Somehow, I think an email with the subject "ICQ.com protocol changed ", "You were suspended" or "Message dated incorrectly " would be a little more likely to get me to read them... if they weren't from me, as well. They just lose even their smidgeon of credibility that way. I will admit, I am slightly curious about the "You were suspended" one. Suspended by what? My wrists, maybe? Ankles? And why don't I remember that? What's the point if I don't remember it? Oh, the tease! | | Sunday, June 21st, 2009 | | 11:09 pm |

So what that it kind of rained on us? Mom, Dad and I picked a couple-few quarts of blackberries (or black raspberries. We don't know for sure) in intermitant rain. That's what hats with brims are for, right? Keeping rain off glasses? And besides, the berries were pre-rinsed. It's a win-win. And then we immediately starting making those berries into cobbler. Oh, yeah! It was good, over vanilla ice cream. Happy now. | | Friday, June 19th, 2009 | | 9:06 am |

Vast.... tracts of land
For the first time in .. a long time, I have cleared off my desk here at work. It was pretty well papered over for quite a while so it just looks wrong, being able to see so much faux woodgrain. But we have bigwigs coming through tomorrow, so we need to look our best and my desk was most distictly not looking 'best'. In fact, it might still be 'too cluttered' with personal photos and such, but it's not WORK clutter anymore. | | Sunday, June 14th, 2009 | | 8:01 am |
There was a barely-fledged robin in one of my window wells yesterday. Now, understand that this window well is about hip deep on me. How do I know? Because I had to stand in it to retrieve the bird. (It appeared my only other option was to leave it there to starve to death - not really an option.) So, it's hip deep AND not quite wide enough for me to stand in sideways. But I finally caught the terrified little thing and got it out of the window well. The whole time, I was under the steely gaze of an adult robin, which stood on the front step next to the window well. In fact, it wasn't very far from from me at all. I am very grateful it wasn't the dive-bombing sort. Once out of the window well, the robin made immediately for a tree and I noticed several other juvenile and at least one (I think at least two) adult robins in it. I guess I didn't know that robins are so faithful to the family unit even after fledging. | | Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | | 3:53 pm |
I mis-read. It's WATER that will be shut off tomorrow. Oh, the joy. | | 9:55 am |
auroraceleste, you were so right to decline going to Hangover. Ugh. But I still love my brother, anyway. Seems the city of Lawrence wants to do some work to 9th street. This means, (assuming weather doesn't interfer) my entire apartment complex will be cut off from 7 am to 7 pm tomorrow. That... really kind of bites. It will be WORSE, though, if weather causes them to postpone it, as I have build some plans around the problem. I guess we will see what we see, tomorrow. | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | | 10:37 am |
Oh... um.. hey, that was odd.
I just recalled the dream I had just before the alarm went off this morning. I won't bore you all with the pre-amble. But the part that has me going 'um.. what?' is this. I walked up a very steep hill, but someone walked with me. When we got to the top we leaned on some rampart-like hillocks of packed dirt (sun-warmed and comfortable) and looked out at the view. And the view was breath-taking. I was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of love for the person with me. I leaned back against him and said "Have I told you recently how much I love you?". Even as I said, it one part of my brain was asking "I don't think I have EVER told this person that I love him" and then "Of course I have, we've been married for years." His reply was unintelligble (as often happens in dreams) and while I was upset about that, I just let it go and the dream moved on. I am not even in a relationship right now, so... what? If I were of a more religious bent, I think I could easily put 'God' or 'Jesus' or 'deity of choice' in as my companion. But I am not, so... what? It's my own dream and I can't figure it out. | | 9:58 am |
Oh, it was squee-worthy. Saturday night I was in a 10-man taking on a nerfed Mimiron when I got a tell from a fellow guild member, Sprouts. Understand that while the guys out-number the gals in Foed, there is still a good handful of women that log in regularly. However, Sprouts and I are probably the most ... dedicated/obsessed. And, everyone loves Sprouts. How can anyone NOT love Sprouts? Anyway, she sent me a tell 'Are you busy tomorrow?'. I say 'Not in the morning, but there's the raid in the evening'. She says 'Wanna get together for brunch/lunch? Deno (her fiance and also fellow guild member) and I are in Salina.'. !!!!!!!ONE!!!!1111ELEVENTY!!!! Oh, hell yes! But she said they have to leave by 1, to make it home in time for the raid. I, of course, totally undestand. ROFL So, we started making plans. I gloated about this in the family chat channel and a thought finally dawned on me. Mustafar also lives in Lawrence, bet he would like to join. But, just in case the invitation was deliberately sent just to me, I told Sprouts, 'You know, Musta lives in Lawrnece, too." So, Musta joined in the plans. And lunch was good! No surprise, Sprouts and Deno are good company in person, as well as from behind a computer. But stupid, stupid me (I blame being in a fight the whole time the conversation occurred) I failed to think about the fact that Aurora (guild member and personal friend) ALSO lives in Lawrnce AND my yougest brother is less than an hour away. Last night I was suitably chastized by brother, forgiven by Aurora (who was asleep anyway and who's phone was dead), but also chastized by yet another guild member, who points out he lives in Junction City. In my defense, I had NO idea about that last. But, I got to meet Sprouts! (and Deno: that was cool, too) *dances* | | 9:06 am |
Still being entertained by spam mail Turbines for your meat jet Not sure I want to encounter a 'meat jet' and especially not one with turbines. Good shells for your love-gun! WTF? Is this for condoms? Something to make a change to the ejaculate? ... I got nothin'. Now, it seems I sent MYSELF this one Sorry. I should've write earlier and I resent the poor grammar. | | Friday, June 5th, 2009 | | 9:12 am |

Oh, sadness
It appears that David Eddings has died recently, too. http://scifi.about.com/b/Some Google work (not much) comes up with several hits, so I can only assume this isnt' a hoax. I can still recite a couple scenes from the Belgariad and Mallorean by heart. And I am quite sure I scandalized my mother by reciting one at the dinner table that involved a character falling from a great height. And bouncing. |
