On Jan. 31 Foederati of Aggramar had it's 6th birthday. Foederati was formed almost as soon as Aggramar openned by Amradorn and a woman I never met (and who's name I forget) The co-Guild Leader quit sometime before I joined (about 5 years ago now) and left Amradorn in sole charge.

As a player, no one could claim Am was more that mediocre at raiding. As a GL he managed to keep a low profile but drama... just didn't happen much or for long. Whether this was because of his direct influence or because he had very good systems in place and put good people in leadership positions, I don't know.

But I might find out soon, because today he announced that he was retiring from WoW.

I has a sad.

I will miss his van jokes and his jokes about his ex-wife. I will miss him teasing the male members of the guild (Am is unrepentantly gay). I will miss getting to 'complain' that I never get invited to the van (I hear it has candy). And I will miss being able to chide people that misuse the word 'gay' by saying "No, my Guild Leader is gay. THAT was just annoying." I supposed I can say "No, Amradorn is gay. THAT was just annoying." but then I would have to explain who Am is.

Good luck with "Real Life" Amradorn; I hear it's fun. And the graphics are excellent.

He wanted as many people in Vent as possible before today's raid and I just KNEW it was ominous.

Edit: Musta is the new GL, btw.

If I understand correctly, yes. But there's a farewell post for him on the guild website - I am quite sure he will be reading that.

I'll have to find it. Hope it's not in one of the many sections I can't see.

BTW, did you get the bags on Tuesday?

Urgh. I wonder who is in charge of the website now - you should bug him/her for access.

Yes, I got the bags and the tourist packet.

It's interesting to me when I read about stuff like this, and certain things stick out at me, like "leadership positions."

I guess it's fortunate that the guild I ended up in is basically a boys club (though there are a few women including a married couple.) or at least the officers/leaders seem to be young guys mostly. The reason being is there aren't a lot of rules or regulations or regiments.

No way in hell could I stand someone giving me orders or having authority over me in a game I pay to play.

I suspect we'll never be anywhere on the leaderboards, that's for sure. Paragon we ain't.

It's not like that. The 'officers' simply have control of the guild bank and decide who joins the guild (that isn't a Friend or Family member of an existing guild member - those get in for the asking). They are also the ones that settle disputes and such. They TEND to also be the raid leaders - they are the ones with the patience and drive to herd cats.

Guess it depends on the guild.

I quit several guilds in EQ2 and SWG because the leader(s) were constantly trying to tell me what to do.

My friend is in an EQ2 guild that during raids constantly tells him to "please keep your language PG-13."

What in the hell is that about? I'd have told them to blow me long ago.
