I really need to remember to post here.
Some of you know I have taken up the 'Who's voice is that' game while playing video games or watching animated movies. So, I have been playing through the Assassin's Creed games and am up to Revelations. Al Mualim's voice in Assassin's Creed sounded really, really familiar, although I knew I wasn't used to hearing that accent. Calm, reasonable, kind of sad. I chalked the sad up to the character, considering how he turns out in the first AC. But I knew I knew that voice, someone else in the wise old mentor role.
Went to IMDB to look him up. Peter Renaday, aka the voice of Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins. Oh. That explains a lot.
But what's this about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? SPLINTER?! :O Perhaps... perhaps some of my (and other fans above a certain age) reaction to Duncan's voice is thanks to TMNT....

In slightly other news, the voice of Ezio (Roger Craig Smith) has really grown on me. Or maybe it's just that he started out as a teenager and now he's fully adult (in his 50s in Revelations) and I find teenaged boys more annoying than anything else. But when Ezio is talking to Sofia (in Revelations) he's got the charm turned up to 11 and dear lord! I just... get lost. If Sofia ends up being the route by which Desmond eventually comes into existence, I will not be surprised.

What's up with the colors on LJ? Or am I the only lucky one where all the colors I carefully picked for each of my friends have changed to greens and blues?

I don't play Minecraft, but my son does. And I still nearly wet myself over this.

MSPixel generally makes me laugh so hard I feel sick, but this. OMG. this. Not safe for work, if only for the language and what's actually going on. Not really safe for brains, either, but soooo much fun losing your mind over it.

From somewhere else entirely, a question: "What video game got you into gaming?"

While I did play some things on the Atari (Asteroids, anyone?) and Tetris on the Amiga, it was Civilization (the first one) that really finally pulled me into computer gaming. After that it was things like The Elder Scrolls: Arena and Baldur's Gate. I haven't really stopped since.

Slow Kerri is Slow. I had been thinking I liked Paladin of Souls so much because the main character is 40, female, widowed and a mother of grown children. I mean, how often does that happen in either fantasy or SF? I really can't think of any other.

But then I started parsing out characters (in response to someone asking for one "superhero movie where there are two female characters with substantial parts and not fighting over a guy.") and realized the main character is female, the main antagonist is female (and in many way's Ista's direct counterpart), the secondary antagonist is also female and the people needing rescue the most are both male (one of which is completely unaware he needs rescuing. Heh.)

Oh, and gender benting of 'damsel in distress' is even complete with the hero ending up romantically involved with the rescued.

The cast is off! I am over the moon with happiness. Next appointment is in four weeks - I get to relearn how to walk in the mean time.

So many times this. Sure, it's pretty, but completely counter productive.

So. Tuesday I was woken from sleep by my phone ringing. Not such an issue, if one has two good legs. But I don't right now and I lost my balance and ended up putting all my weight on my bad leg. It hurt, but only the ankle joint, not any part I associate with the fibula. Then I overbalanced at work the next day and did the same thing. Today, someone strongly suggested I talk to my ortho about it.
The ortho said 'come in now for xrays.'. So I did.

Good news, I didn't damage anything.

Bad news, that pain in my ankle is expected (from lack of exercise) and will be part of what I will be fighting against when I get the boot/walking cast. Also, I can expect to be in the boot for 4-6 *more* weeks. And will still be using the damn crutches for at least two of those weeks. More, I am sure, if I can't strengthen up the leg fast enough.

Take-home message: Don't break your leg.
