I have a new pet peeve.|
It doesn't replace any of my old ones, mind. Just adds to the list.
People that ramble on and on and on in voice mail, when they have given you all the info in the first 10 seconds, but you have to listen to the whole damn thing just in case they actually do have something to add.

about three months into the job I have now
and have had for what seems forever.... I had someone call up to complain about their listing in their show guide. they complained for about 15 MINUTES without EVER giving me 1) Their name, 2) their Company name, 3) a phone number or 4) whatever tradeshow they had attended. Not a farking clue. I kept waiting and listening and waiting so on, when it ran out, I slammed the phone set down and said "F--k YOU" really loud.
I didn't know my boss was standing behind me wondering why I was spending so long on the phone without speaking. All she said was, "I was worried you were too nice to be here. I'm not so worried any more." (about two weeks after I started, we had a shipping mishap - the show managers in Atlanta called and asked "where are my books?" two days before the show (they had to stuff them with things for the attendees). The printer's expediter had been assuring my boss that the books were on pallets on their way to Atlanta, the trucking company expediter was saying the same thing. They were sitting on a dock in Liberty at the printer.... I thought her desk was going to spontaneously combust, I'd never heard that much violent, creative profanity from a large, loutish looking male, much less expected from a petite blond woman! Yikes! (Printer had to pay about $15,000 more than we paid them for the printing to ship it express to Atlanta...)

Re: about three months into the job I have now
That would be worse, yep.
I knew someone like that. If you heard his voice on your answering machine, you just kinda sat back and knew it was going to take a few minutes when a brief message would work.
another one I forget about!
