Oh, Lord! Today's Penny Arcade!
Turbine is the company putting out Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Turbine is also the company that put out Asheron's Call.

Asheron's Call has NO dragons. Even though there were many whines for them, there were no dragons in Asheron's Call. There is even lore to explain why there are no dragons in Asheron's Call. (and even a technical explaination, too)

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/01/13 (sorry, I can't seem to get any linkthe but current one. If I am smart and remember, I will update this as soon as it is 'archived')

Bwhahahahahahahah!

Actually, I wasn't expecting anything like Asheron's Call, or anything I would like to play. Maybe somthing as sickening as Asheron's Call 2. I really didn't like the direction I saw AC going more than a year ago, and that's why I don't play it any more. Or any MMORPG, as they all seem to think the same way.

Turbine is doing Lord of the Rings Online, too.

But, most of the original devs are gone. I heard they even fired srand (my hero!, but not an original dev) and I just haven't had any faith in Turbine ever since.

I should probably point out that srand = Sandra Powers. Not that I expect anyone to know that name, either.

What little I've been able to hear from Beta Testers is "D&D Online. We should really call it 'Go Play World of Warcraft - Online.'"

As for the Eberron Setting, if WotC wasn't trying to ram it down peoples' throats, I might actually be more interested in it. All they succeeded in their marketting was make me appreciate the (Also Overmarketted IMO, but at least interesting) Forgotten Realms.

Hmmm. Putting it in Eberron was probably a mistake.
