Tycho's comments about DDO over on Penny Arcade made me go 'yeah, that's Turbine'. Jumping and climbing in dungeons? Oh, yeah. Constraining the use of magic? I can see them trying to go that way, what with the way magic became the be-all and end-all in AC. A not-quite-perfect UI? Oh, hell yes.

Oops

In Morrowind one can make Constant Enchantment items using pretty much any spell you have in your spell book This means that any spell you have on the item will be in effect for as long as you wear the item. This can be VERY useful.

There is a spell set called 'Bound'. Essentially the spell 'binds' a daedra (other-planar being) in whatever form the spell requires: spear, sword, helm, boots, what have you. You get the daedric form of what ever it is (which is pretty much the most powerful form).

I had been reading about making an item with Bound Helm, Boots, Gloves and Cuirass and decided to play with it, because the Bound versions have no weight and come with some nice little buffs.

I first though to put them on an belt, but the four spells together required more 'enchantment points' than even the best belt had. But in my quest to FIND one of those belts I came across a helm I knew had lots of enchantment points and bought it.

I put all the spells on. Then I tried to wear it.

Crash.

tried again.

Crash.

Okay, this is reproducable. Perhaps I should look into this, because I KNOW this can be done.

This is where I start not-thinking well enough. Because I thought the problem was that I was already wearing a glove and that was causing the crash.

Took everything off before putting on the helm.

Crash

Light dawns. The HELM would have to come off for the Bound Helm to be on. No wonder it couldn't do it.

I ran out, got a ring (with enough room) and now have the CE item I wanted.

But, boy, do I feel stupid.

For once I think I have used disappointment constructively. Well, actually it was destructively, but who cares? All those old magazines are out of the apartment. I didn't even both counting how many trips to the dumpster I made. It was OMG 5 years worth of four weekly magazines. That's quite a bit, don't you think?

I must be going nuts. I just pulled out two fabrics to start the costumes I plan to make for Conflation, cut one fabric and now I can't find the second one. WFT?

Edit: I am going nuts. I put it on my bed.

Edit2: Yay. All cut out. Now, to start on sewing it. It's not like they are complicated, which is why I have put it off so long.

Just eat something, won't I? Yes, I know nothing really appeals, but the stomach is rumbling, the hands are starting to shake and I just sewed eight pieces together wrong. With psuedo flat-felled seams. Aren't I glad I didn't trim the seam allowance, though? Fine. There's nothing in the house that appeals. Go out, get fast food. SOMETHING, stupid. Do I have to tell me to do EVERYTHING? Sheesh.
