Being a product of my frugal mother, most of the fabrics I have used were from Hancocks and JoAnn's and such. Cotton, synthetics, rayon, that sort of thing. Hancocks had (actually, has. there's this stripe I have trying to resist) silk duponi. And I bought some for these Conflation costumes (no, radcliffe, I haven't touched the lavender yet. But there's this skirt I think is begging for it). I LOVE it. It's crisp, it's got a wonderful hand feel, a sumptuous sheen, it doesn't need ironing to put in flat felled seams, it doesn't slither, or stretch much or creep. The only thing wrong with it is that it tends to ravel badly. But, you know what? I can deal with that. :)
In other news, I am now the proud owner of Carcassonne (a suggestion from Pooch). And it does look both fun and like something I can play with Thomas. Pooch rocks!
