Two questions for those who might know:
A co-worker is looking for a ceilidh band to play at her wedding (or reception, not sure) in May. She's having a bit of trouble finding one that isn't booked. Does anyone here have some leads I could give her? I would ask rohanna but I know she's in Boston right now.

The second question: WHERE can I find some simple, cotton, waistband-at-the-waist, dress slacks? I am willing to range as far as KC or Topeka (in my copious free time).

Ah, pooh! I'd normally raise my, er, Queen's Gambit's hand but weekends in May are completely booked with OKRF for us.

Try giving a shout to the Missouri Folklife Society....they should know if anybody does.

I let her know about OKRF and passed on the MVFS idea (which she had already been given by another co-worker, as it turned out).

...and just for the record;

QG does weddings, receptions and office parties. We've played the dance music for country dances at KCRF, OKRF and Scarborough Faire. We also have the capability to teach some dances to party guests who wish to dance but do not know the dances.

Two KC Irish bands
Glen Road http://www.glenroadmusic.com/home.php4
Tullamore http://www.omniventure.com/tullamore/

Most local Irish musicians will probably be at a house concert two weeks from now:

For clothes, have you tried the JC Penney Outlet Store on 75th St and I-35? I was there a couple of weeks ago and they have some extra white lab coats, anyway. :P

Not yet. But I think it's got potential, especially as I drive to work so much just now.

I know Lydia used to make them in a couple of hours. She said that once you'd fitted the first pair, it took no time at all to make a new pair.

Have you tried Kohl's? I usually have my best luck there finding clothes for work.

You might have trouble finding just cotton though - everything is blended these days.

Also Jones Store Co. (West Ridge Topeka) has nice casual/business/work wear for women, as does Burlington Coat Factory (Olathe Mall of the Great Plains.)

You may have the best luck at the Mall in Olathe, as there a whole bunch of outlets that Just Do Pants - such as the Lee place, and the Dockers place. They've got Dress Barn (I have good luck for business-y stuff there) as well as Marshalls and Burlington.

If you go early enough, ti's not too crowded neither.

Though you may not think it to look at me I am quite a bit of a clothes horse (I collect more than I wear) and love going with others to help them look.

Hope you found what you were looking for.

They are officially on hiatus. Richelle and Victor may yet play together again as a duo but Shenanigans hasn't played together in over a year.
