My boss sent me this link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14309026/ as potentially interesting. And it is. But what really caught my eye was a link to Related Content:

"TV kills kids' pain better than moms" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14397353/

I have SEEN this. Thomas had an earache in the middle of the night. I was rocking him while he wimpered and groused as much as a small, tired, hurting child can, when he asked for the TV to be on. Instant change. He was utterly still while watching, without wimpering or even needing me to hold him.

I read that this weekend. Ada is the same way, pain or no pain. Seasame Street comes on and she zones out everything.

and it seems doubled in affect with anyone with ADHD. I can't have a conversation with half my friends when the TV is on, and yes, they are all diagnosed with ADHD or some form.
