It's WoW again, but it's short.|
My first character hit 40 yesterday. I spend most all my dreaming time trying to get gold for a mount.
Thing is, I probably wouldn't even have had a second thought about a mount for quite some time if everyone* hadn't been asking me if I "had enough gold for a mount yet?" even since Aydena hit 38. :p
*that would consist of: all my brothers, my sister-in-law, several guildmates, some casual hunting companions and even a complete stranger or two.
Soooooooooooo..... have enough money for a mount yet? *Pops a Sprint and runs like HELLLLLLLLLLL!*
But in all seriousness, if you are in need of any assistance/loan/whatever, I can go on a Swifthistle Farming spree or some other quick money-maker from time to time.
I'm never averse to helping out those that need cash more than me.

Thank you. :) I think my brothers are hinting at giving me money, too, but I am not taking them up on it, either.
And, besides, Aydena has herbalism, too, so you can't sell what *I* get to before you. Neener, neener!
I am also killing dwarves in the dig in southern Barrens, since they drop wool cloth, which I want for Cagey the tailor. Now I know what's deep in that stronghold! Never quite had the guts (or need) to go more than a few rooms in before. I am considering seeing if I can farm RFC and/or WC, too. Why I want to get the gold without leveling past 40, I couldn't tell you, other than every two levels is more training gold spent.
Alrighty. More gold for me and my Minor-twinking in prep for this bracket's Arathi Basin! Whoo hoo!!!!
And aye. Farming is your friend. Dunno if you'll be able to Farm WC, but RFC shouldn't be too much of a hassle with your Face-Melting Shadow powers. If this was Ambeth at 40, I'd say it was a solid thing, since she'd in Mail, not Squishy-clothes.
And getting the gold without leveling is no big deal. A solid idea considering that Training at those levels is something like 5-10 for a whole tray of abilities.
Got dirk to 26 last night... I really shouldn't have stayed up so late running around all of fraggin' Kalimdor to do it, though...... uuuuuuuuuuuugh.

Grats on 'dirk!
And I know the pain of training costs - I paid 12 gold for my level 40s. ugh. Set my mount fund back a good bit, that did, but I need the skills to keep up the fighing, don't I?
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 02:31 pm (UTC)|| |
What is this dark whelping you speak of and what might I get it from? The Badlands was where I was considering going next.
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 02:37 pm (UTC)|| |
Ooo, Allahkazam FTW. I even have a quest or two to kill Searing Whelps in Dustwallow. Oh, decisions, decisions...
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 02:35 pm (UTC)|| |
Well, if you ever change your mind about letting us give you gold for your mount, I'd be more than happy to share the wealth. I've currently got about 160g sitting in Xenophim right now (and I think Shalaid has even more than me) so, don't think I'd miss a few. ;)
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 02:40 pm (UTC)|| |
Like you don't need 500g for your level 60 mount?! (or so I remember hearing, anyway). No, the 1g Shalaid sent my ever-so-new Ambeth and all the bags I have cadged off everyone, plus the time you all give me helping with elite type quests is enough. Plus, I am curious if I can do this. If I get to, say, level 45 or something without enough for a mount, THEN I will likely take up your kind offers.
*hugs* to my sis!
Ummm... more like 800g to get an Epic Mount. (Base Price. If Exalted with your own Faction and PvP Sergeant, it's like 560, but for non PvPers it'd be 640. But that's going to change as the Expansion will come out before you are 60.)
As it stands, your plan holds water. No shame in farming, and Fish the Firefins and Blackmouths if running around gets too annoying.

I can't sell those damn fish unless I price them WAY down at the default. I have tried putting them at what Allakhazam says, I have tried calibrating it to what is for sale at the time. I have tried undercutting the current prices. Gah.
There's a good chance that, even though I undercut all but the stupid-cheap prices on the herbs I put on the AH last night, they still won't sell. Or maybe I'm just bitter. :p
But I still think I will just sell off everything in my herb bag, if only to have space for farming. or try. It will give me space for... well, I guess 1 month, if I don't clear out my mailbox after they come back to me... forlorn and rejected. See how much hope I hold out!
Hmmmm... okay. The fish... forget about them, unless I manage to get the recipes for Free-Action or Swiftness Potions. Then I'll be your carnival Barker.
And selling the bastards at Default is not that bad a thing. Sure, you might end up feeling like you were "Cheated" but ultimately it's 100% profit.
Also, if you are going to AH... download the Auctioneer Mod. It is a great help in properly undercutting without the guesswork. ("Properly" meaning around 7.5% instead of the usual 5%)

the recipe for Swiftness potions is very often on the AH for 1-5 g. I just have never felt rich enough to pay for it.
And, hell, I may well have Free action. Could be wrong. I KNOW Ambeth scored (through a very early drop I don't even remember anymore) the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight... I should work on making money from that. Not like I am going to worry about getting attacked while making the rounds of the pools in the Barrens.
I really should just plop down the money for the Swiftness potion. I forget to scan for it when I do my nightly AH run.
If I make enough of those buggers and sell them to the PvP Monkeys, we each could be rolling in it.
I'll have to look for Free Action as well. So much use for that stuff.
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 04:34 pm (UTC)|| |
Wait, a light is dawning.... It's got to be Swiftness that I have already. Because I desperately wanted a Swiftness potion for a pair of gloves that Ambeth could make and so made an alchemist just for that. Then I didn't want the gloves anymore by the time I could make them. *rolls eyes*
Guess I will just have to go see what I do have. Never really though of them as marketable.. but Cagey is going to want Swiftthistle for tea. Hmmmm.
Yeah... that's what I was thinking, as well, since Free Action is actually purchasable.
Never underestimate the desire for an edge amongst the PvP Monkeys. In lower-bracket WSG, swiftness potions (Along with Rogues popping Sprint) provide the edge needed for good wins.
Last check on Aggramar (As of Midnight last night, the last check I made), as the potions going for about 1.25 a pop.
Just doign that on the side of your other stuff means you should be good within a couple weeks at most.
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 04:45 pm (UTC)|| |
Units, dude! 1.25 what? gold? silver? for 1? or a stack?
okay, Miss Science.
1.25 GOLD... PER POTION.
About 6 a Stack on average. All depends on what the market is willing to pay that day.
It's Arathi Basin this weekend, so Free-Action might actually sell better than Swiftness (Was a WSG weekend last weekend. They were probably selling like mad then.)

Ah, yes, knowing who buys what and why is important. I see I have a number of options for tonight.
Yep. Let me be your library when your guildies aren't muttering "noob" under their collective breath on Vent. ;-)
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 05:07 pm (UTC)|| |
heh. actually, they seem to be accepting me more now. The one with the 'serious' comment was actually new to the guild, which I didn't realize at the time, but should have. Newer than me, even.
And things have definitely gone from 'who is that?' to replying to my 'good night' when I log off ever since I started using Vent. I think I became more 'real' at that point.
Well... that's good. I'm probably going to have to consider Guilding on Aggramar. That is, if I end up playing long enough on that server.
In the meantime, I'll stay un-guilded with a friend who might be able to save my tukhas when needed. :o)
And as I write that, I look up the Raid times for my guild on Malygos...
Looks like I might be able to start raiding if I can get into one of the regular groups. They do MC on Weds and Thurs... Hmmmmm.
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 06:57 pm (UTC)|| |
Good luck, if that works out!
Well, it's going to take a bit. This guild-alliance thing they have is fairly... well, "weird" to me, but likely normal to the rest of the server or whatnot.
I have to sign up for raids, but can't sign up for some because they don't have them posted... and even if I sign up, I might still be on waiting list or whatever for a lot of the night.
Much with the ugh.
|Date:||September 14th, 2006 07:17 pm (UTC)|| |
I know Foed has 'rotations' if they have more than the required number of any class sign up. Not sure how it works, but it seems to mean that certain people get kicked out (or have to leave) early so others come in in their place. But yes, it means a long night. I know at least one member was upset with the rotations because he always seemed to get rotated in for the trash, and rotated out for the bosses, so he didn't get DKP.
As for the raids not posted... are these secret, inner-circle things? Or just not as organized?
It's efficiently organized, but you can't sign up for raids ahead of time unless you've already done some raids and built up "Reliability" with the alliance.
Sure, I'd love to sign up, but since I don't want to have to schedule my social-life (Or whatever) around last-minute raiding, it's a bit annoying to start with.

I use the Auctioneer add-on to help me price things. It takes a few scans of the auction house before it starts providing useful data.
