So, if one looks in the mirror and thinks 'I'm fat' regardless of how thin one is and this is a problem, does that mean, if I look in the mirror and think 'my hair is still short' regardless of the fact that it's maybe four inches from reaching my waist, do I have a problem (not that there are quite so many HEALTH issues involved)? 'Cause I do. Almost waist length and I think 'It's still not long'. Makes me wonder what would be "long". <lj user="Radcliffe'>'s length, maybe.

short answer, yes.

Waist, nice.

Long would be country singer Crystal Gail(sp). Her hair reaches the floor.

This pic was taken in the early days.

She, (and Cher and now Radcliffe) would be one of the women that make me think 'long hair', yes.

This reminds me of the joke about woman who's thick hair flowed down her back to her waist, it was a dreadful shame that her head was bald as a bolling ball.

I can trail it up and down your body, but I don't think I can make a whip of it.... well, maybe if I don't mind getting dizzy....

That's a great idea but I won't have any spare cash until I get outta grad school.

Though it would be interesting to see a photo series of "Stuff done with hair that long" including styles, activities, whatever. If only she knew a photographer. ~cough~ Kivasfajo ~cough~

My hair is just barely down to the bottom of my shoulder blades. I say it's short, everyone else says it's long. It seems to be a matter of perception - women nowadays tend to keep their hair short, so "medium" turns into "long" and "long" turns into "sweet Jesus, how do you even take care of that???" I used to have waist length hair too (way back when), so I know what long is and mine isn't, and if you've had (or want) longer hair than what you have now, you know what long is too and that's why your hair isn't it.

That's it, exactly! There's a picture of me from High School with my hair pulled over my shoulders and it completely covers my breasts (granted, this is high school and they may have been higher then.). My hair still won't do that, yet. I think, if I could SIT on it, it would be 'long' to me. I am just not sure it will grow that long. :(

ROFLMAO!

I had the same sort of graduation pic... the photog must have been impressed because he tried to get all my hair in the picture, making for a very odd "head and shoulders" pic.

You just think it's not long because you have bangs ;)
What I think is that I love to see long hair when it's shiney and healthy, like you and radcliffe have. I hate to see it "long at any cost" where the ends are all frazzly and it looks like chewed hay.

You and me both! Makes me shudder to see both the too-dry and the needs-to-be-washed-bad versions.

I think that is it - I consider my hair "medium" because to me "long" is waist or longer" - mine does not grow any longer then it is

My definitions

Very Short - above neckline
Short - above shoulders
Medium - Shoulders to waist
Long - below waist

I have been growing it out these last years, but it's possible it's grown several inches since you last saw it. I can set my hand at my waist and have only a little more room than the width of my hand between it and the ends of my hair.

Honey, sweetie, this is short hair. It's fine if you think your hair isn't long enough for your tastes, but it's most certainly not short.

Hee hee! True, true. It's my back brain trying to tell me 'that's not long'. It's amazingly deaf to reason.

Heh... depends on how you define "problem". If you mean "anything deviating from norm/reality" then sure, it'd technically be a specific form of body dysmorphia. If you use "problem" to mean "things that can seriously fuck you up and/or kill you", then no, unless you try to invent some kind of hair-stretching machine and end up scalping yourself. ;)

But I also totally empathize. Mine's about 2-3 inches from my waist (and I'm about 6' tall), and I still keep thinking "It's not LONG yet! If it were LONG I'd be able to sit on it or something!" :)

I never considered my hair that long after meeting some people at RF who had hair down to their knees(and my hair was long enough to sit on) But then I cut my hair(13 inches off!) and now I regret it nearly every day. I think you never realize how long your hair was or how long you want it to be until you go and cut it off. At least it will grow back.

Many a man has looked down and thought "It is not long"...most have been right. That why it is called 'average'.

Then there is a guy who used to visit a friend of mine at the "massage parlor" she worked at. The girls called him The Plumber (he was a trucker by trade). I saw a picture once, 3 hands wrapped around him (one Asian, one Black, and one White) and about half a hand more needed to hide him. He always said "I ain't that long. You should see my brother".
