Where would I get latex and spirit gum (I think that's what the adhesive used on skin is called)? Anywhere local, or do I have to order online?

The latex can be got from any plastics store such as TapPlastics, and the spirit gum from almost any costume or crafts store. You may have to ask for it though.

Liquid type, as an alternative to the skin painting - it smudged at the junction of the corset and my skin. I think the ones on the breasts themselves should be latex as well, as they are partially under the fabric and WILL get rubbed.

Yeah. TapPlastics(.com) has that stuff.

Remember to first shave the areas before you paint, otherwise it'll hurt like the dickens when it comes time ta take it off.

Any Bic disposable will do. Although I'm more partial to the triple bladed type.

Look around for a theatrical costume/make supply company or store. They should have some.

KC Costume on Broadway has spirit gum, I know. Not sure about latex, though it wouldn't suprise me if they did.

Fun & Games used to carry theatrical makeup supplies, but since they changed owners, I don't know if that's the case anymore.

I don't remember seeing any when I was in.... oh... a year ago, now? But I will keep it in mind if billthetailor and berkie's suggestions don't work out.

I recall seeing spirit gum at Fun and Games last time I was in (about 2 months ago) looking for a wig for con. You might give them a call and see if they have the latex though, since it's right on Mass and doesn't require driving all the way out to KC. :)

I work at the southeast corner of the I-435 loop so hitting 80th and Wornall on my home home is cake. ;) Well, expect that whole 'Bannister Road at rush hour' thing. :p

Fun and Games should have both, but I suggest hitting up KC costume for the latex anyway. Fun and Games usually only sells the latex to students in makeup at KU, and every time I've gotten it from them it's old and gloppy. Also, be sure to get spirit gum remover along with spirit gum.

Forgot the remover. *contrite face*

On the other hand, I picked up some Ben Nye Final Seal and am currently running an experiment with the paint on my forehead. LOL

A-to-Z Theatrical Supply, formerly known as ATC (Allied Theatrical Contractors) carries both. They're at 80th (maybe 81st) and Wornall, east of Wornall on 80th (maybe 81st), about 1/2 a block down.

Yep, you beat me to it. That's where I always used to go for my statue make-up.

And I believe it's 81st St, on the east side of the Wornall.

Where we got ours. They look kinky, but they're awfully nice.

http://www.liquidlatexonline.com/index.asp

and it usually takes a week from phone call to delivery.

Spirit gum must mean that you're going to make the appliances, and glue them onto your face? You could also paint them directly onto your face, but then you would have to do a new one each time.

Very excited to see what you're cooking up!

The latex is looking like a good idea for the places that WILL get rubbed, like just above the corset and the breasts. I think I might stick with the paint for the face, but it might depend on how easy that is to apply. The paint was so easy!

If I don't like the color choices I have from the theatrical place here in KC, I will definitly give that website a try.

Hmmm, I do have eyelash glue. (I found out that false eyelashes don't get along well with glasses, more's the pity)

Ah, I saw the magic section, but didn't go in, so I didn't see there were costumes, too. It just seemed... like they didn't really want anyone back there, for some reason.

I was beat to it, I usually got my makeup stuff from US Toy too. I also really preferr the eyelash glue- I use it daily for a bindi mark I wear on my cheek. The trick I've learned is to let it dry a few seconds to make it real tacky and it will set whatever it is in place easier.
