Headdress madness
Here's the headdress crescent as it is now.

The paint goes off the edges intentionally - I am trying to encase the raw edges. This may or may not work. If it doesn't, hey, I can make another pretty easy.

There is a layer of thin white silk Wonderundered to black cotton. This laminate layer is flat lined to two layers of canvas that contain a wire along both curves and short bits of ever so slightly curved plastic boning (I KNEW I would use that to my advantage) near each end to force the crescent to become slightly concave at either end.

But my artistic skills are pretty low, so I didn't even manage to make each side a mirror image of the other. *sigh*

you have to incorporate a "flaw" lest the gods get jealous

That's gotta go on the sampler right next to "It's not finished until you've bled on it"

i think it looks nice and trust me the rest of the body err... i mean costume will slow people from noticing the flaw. (which is no big deal, and if they have a problem with a small flaw, i will beat them up for you)

:D Thank you.

But I think you might need to let the judges nitpick the flaws. ;)

I think it looks awesome. Screw perfection.

That said, I used to know a trick for making a reverse image, but I don't remember what it was....gah. Allergies are eating my brain. If I remember it, I'll email you.

It's pretty tempting to try again. I am pretty sure I can get the laminate layer off the base and replace it, even. And only one of those lotus blossoms actually pleases me. I think I can do so much better after this practise run. LOL

Go for it, at least then you have a spare to mess up on when putting it all together, or even pack it in the box encase something damages the other in transport.

Alas, I do not want to remake the base, and removing the top layer is likely to be destructive (the flatlining stitches are UNDER the edging paint.)

But... I suppose I could... no reason I can't, really, come to think.... Unless I don't have enough left of the canvas scraps.

I'm digging it, though.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
