No, really, I shouldn't.
I thought my next costuming project would be Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan's Winterfair gown from Cordelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold, which would be challenging since I would have only a sketchy description to go by.

But, noooooo, I just HAD to get fixated on something else.

I think I mentioned that an expansion to The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion came out. It has all sorts of new art work. I thought some of the original clothing was tempting, but then I saw this in Shivering Isles and I was lost. Completely lost. I must attempt this.

And only the most geeky of gaming geeks are likely to get it. *sigh*

Why can't wigs be as easy to brush out as my own hair? I just don't get it.

LOL, very true.

And, did you notice the shape of the skirt? That's going to be fun. I am thinking of tying in the sides of a basic farthingale and see what happens. It looks like a cross between a panier hoop and a farthingale - narrower front to back than side to side, but still sloping gently from top to bottom.

so the geeky of the gaming geeks will know what this is. Thats ok, a costumer will take a picture from a book that is a inch small (the picture not the book) and make a costume. Why because its a beautiful art form. you will look good in this. plus its a lot of fun

This is quite true. Or a sketchy description from a beloved book, even.

While tempting, I think I will use one of my Civil War corsets and make a bodice over top - there's no sign of actually lacing, for instance and the back looks rather more like a concealed zipper (ugh, gack, cough, zippers, dang)

Very nice. What a wonderful excuse to work with some lovely fabrics. The purple skirt layers remind me of a hat I have that has a wire rim that you can twist so it folds flat for storage.

You hat sounds like my farthingale! That folds up pretty darn small, too.

I won't stop you if that is what you are asking for. You would look good, no, great, no... STUNNING! in that. I just think we need to do something about that hair, it's too severe for you.

Oblivion has really depressing choices for hair style. That was just the most appealing at the time I made the character, so, no, I have no intention of trying to do that. I was thinking a hat.....

Wow!(Brian stop saying that you're annoying her!)

Go on! Keep sewing. Keep pushing those err... uhhh... I was gonna say limits. But you don't have any.

It aughta look fantastic!

Although I think it needs a headpiece. Maybe some beadwork in the hair or something.

Oh, I have limits! Constuctions of heavy wire and styrofoam is likely something I will not ever do (Um...maybe.) for instance.

I agree it needs a hat or something. No way am I going with that hair style, it's just one of the more appealing of the choices Oblivion offers, but that's not saying much.
