I didn't think the hat would be the hard part.|
Anybody got some ideas? I am looking for Sophie's hat from Howl's Moving Castle. You'all can thank verminiusrex
I can decorate it, but I need the basic hat.http://www.onlineghibli.com/howls_castle/char/sophie.gifhttp://anime-source.com/banzai/images/articles/howl/howl01.jpg
The flat, round crown and short brim are stumping me. Most hats I have seen have square or high, round crowns and ginormous brims.
It looks like a pith helmet.
A Phuket Pith!
.. not pronounced as it looks, but funny to think about all the same.
Hey, CR, look further down, wanna join in?Edited at 2008-02-15 09:51 pm (UTC)
I'd call it a cloche. I could teach you to felt your own. You buy wool roving at the yarn barn and a hat shaper like this:http://www.hatshapers.com/Product%20Pages/bell_cloche.htm
Then we take a couple hours a saturday and soap up hats while watching tv. It might be a fun KCCG meetup :D

*raises hand* I'll come to make a hat! That sounds like tons of fun! :D
If you do this make sure to invite Ruth - she loves Cloche hats.

That sounds like fun! And her hat is flexible (like a cloche), so I don't think a pith helmet is quite it, although the shape is about right.
ooh, that looks like fun and a neat hat for embellishing!
Count me in if it happens.

It definitely does not look like a cloche to me. Cloches are more bell shaped and the brims fit closer to the head. Right?
Of course, cloches are cuter (to me) but I think it's more pith-like than cloche.
