Strep check (Qualification of statement: I am not a Doctor, but I've been through this a lot)
1. Get spoon
2. Get flashlight
3. Go to mirror
4. Open mouth and say ah
5. Shine flashlight down throat
6. Use spoon to get tongue out of way
7. Look for white spots or pustules on throat, tonsils, whatever you have back there.
White spots may = strep (Go to Dr. to confirm)
No white spots /= strep (Lots of redness = irritation from drainage)

I do keep looking (had strep a goodly number of times, myself) and can't see any white spots. Here's hoping I just can't see them.
