Girly lesson learned after 38 years - curling the ends of long hair really does make it look more finished.

Can we say 'slow'?

*g* I tried that sooo many times.. it fell out immediately.
But a hairdresser who can trim the ends so they fall slightly curled under? priceless.

My girly lesson was about two months ago. "It's not that my hair can't hold curl at all, it's that my hair is too LONG to hold the curl. At shoulder length, it does just fine..." A curling iron still doesn't work that well, but hot rollers do just fine.

Funny that, hot rollering your waist-length hair doesn't result in long-lasting curls.

A friend's girly lesson, at forty-plus years of age, was that if you do the eyeliner on the outer parts of your eyes and not all the way to the inner corner, it looks more natural and flattering. She'd been not wearing eyeliner for more than 20 years until the day she sat and watched me do my makeup and said, "Hey, how come you only put that on half your eye?"

There are days when I want to get all my tomboy friends together and trade all the various tips and tricks we've found out over the years for natural-looking hair and makeup that looks professional and polished.

Much love,
Rowan
