Fresh, toasted bagle with cream cheese for breakfast.

And I think I will go get one of those honeycrisp apples, too.

I hated apples growing up. But then, it was always those wretched (but cheap) Red Delicious marketing monstrosities, so perhaps it's no wonder. But I have since discovered the goodness that is Fuji, Honeycrisp, and the like. Crisp, sweet, juicy and flavorful.

Yep, I need an apple. (Now, if only there was a way to get really good blackberries and/or mangoes from the supermarket. But those are both just too delicate to travel. Alas.)

I hated Red Delicious apples until I got one from Floyd at the farmer's market in Lawrence. He literally forced it on me, saying, "No, I understand about the supermarket ones, but trust me." His are AMAZING. They're crisp, sweet, and tangy, like you took eleven supermarket red delicious apples, distilled all the tasty out of them, and crammed it into one apple without any of the mushy or the mealy or the weird skin bitterness.

My favorites, though, are Gala and Braeburn.

Now I want an apple.

Much love,

Oh man... I hate playing apple roulette. I found some wonderfully tasty Gala apples at Checkers a while ago, but they were the giant Gala apples. The regular ones I got later are pretty flavorless. But maybe that's just a bad batch of Galas! I don't know. (O_O)

Honeycrisp, though? Are they reliably good? I may have to look in to that...

I only just discoved Honeycrisp in the last month or two, so I can't say too much, but I haven't had a bad one yet and I think I have eaten a dozen or so.

You did know that frozen blueberries and mangoe chunks still have all the goodness of fresh? So easy for a quick smoothie sort of thing!
