I really wasn't wondering where the ice was. But if I HAD, I would… - Melodramatic, corsetted mistress of the obscure

A large percentage of the gaming population on every platform doesn't care at all about story. Used to baffle me, hanging with friends watching them play say, Bioshock or something, and them skipping through all the dialog, ignoring the voice logs, etc. Same with games with cut scenes.
They just wanted to get on about the business of killing shit.
I think the obsession with multiplay is a least two major things:
1.) longevity of the game, as I guess you get more out of most $60 games with multiplay (90 hour games like Oblivion notwithstanding)
2.) most people I meet online are all about e-peen. They want to "pwn bitches" and nothing more. Pure ego stroking.

People play story games and ignore the story? o.o But but but...
1) I suppose I can see that, but I can't think of any recent game that I paid $40 - $60 for that didn't give me those hours and hours and hours of enjoyment all by my little self. Dragon Age, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas... and so on. Obviously, some people don't pick the right games. ;P\
2) And this might actually be the really big point - can't show off without an audience, I suppose.
